Accommodation

Holywell quad

The graduate accommodation surrounds a lovely quadrangle where students frequently share meals and drinks.

Graduates at Merton are a very privileged bunch indeed. Merton College is well known for its high-quality accommodation for graduates, perhaps among some of the very best available in Oxford. General features include:

A large number of graduates are placed in rooms in the portered buildings at Holywell Street in central Oxford, minutes from the High Street and City Centre. The single rooms are in modern buildings set around a beautiful landscaped garden. The rooms come with sleeping and sitting areas along with a large desk, clothes cabinet and bookshelves, and en-suite bath or shower facilities. Some rooms even have a walk in closet. Connections for telephone and web access are available.

Garden near Summerhouse

Home to the many summer concerts and garden parties, graduates are offered not only cost effective and high quality accommodation, but also beautiful and peaceful surroundings

Other graduates enjoy living in houses. Merton houses accommodate 4 or 5 people in single rooms, and each house comes with a kitchen and common dining area and many graduates enjoy evening meals together. The gardens are perfect for barbeques in summer. The houses are clustered in Manor Place, which is near the Merton College Sports Ground (perfect for post-BOP drinks!) and the Social Sciences departments. Additional houses are set in attractive and bustling Jericho, close to some of Oxford’s best restaurants, pubs and bars.

There are also a small number of one-bedroom flats on Iffley Road about ½ mile from the city centre for couples. The University Accommodation Office can advise on options for family accommodation, as this is currently not offered by Merton College.

More information, and pictures, can be found at the main College website.
